Lucila Silva-Santisteban
 

Lucila joined Balmori in 2017 as a landscape designer after her internship in 2016. She holds a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture (MLA) from the Rhode Island School of Design where she was nominated for the RISD ASLA student award in 2017. She is trained as an architect focused on the urban realm with Bachelor’s in Architecture (B.Arch), from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Colombia.

She contributes to the design team for ongoing and new projects with her knowledge and training. As well in the archiving of Diana Balmori’s and the Firm's legacy for Yale University. 

She is focused in how Design-Thinking Research can promote development and in solving resiliency issues of the built environment from the point of view of landscape architecture.

Previously, in Colombia, she has contributed to several  landscape and urban projects of multiple scales including public space, streetscape, urban, master planning, oil field extraction remediation design, and garden design. She also has experience in architectural design, focusing on social housing in conjunction with city planning and private developers.
